well I was cast as the Countess Almaviva in Concordia Vocal Academy's production of Le nozze di Figaro. she's definitely a complex character-if you're not familiar with the opera, it takes place a few days before a servant girl, Suzanna marries the character Figaro. However, her master, the Count, is a employing all means necessary to exercise the droit de seigneur, which is a feudal lord's right to bed a servant girl the night of her marriage, a right he abolished when he married Rosina (the countess) and she tells Figaro of his frequent advances, and he, Suzanna and the Countess together plot many ways to make a fool out of the Count and to make him see the error of his ways.

The Countess, I find, is the more complex character of the three. I mean, Figaro and Suzanna are fully committed to duping the Count, in fact they're reveling in it. The Countess, however, is at times in full support of the plans, and at other times is in utter anguish and despair. However, had i been the countess, i would've turned this comedy into a tragedy, lol, if you get what i'm saying.

it's really quite fun, I can't wait to hobble around in a hoop skirt and corset hahaha.

If you are conscious of the fact that you are having a dream, and you can actually say that ‘this is just a dream’, then can you really be sure it’s even a dream at all?
